Falconer

high flying pursuit

Followspotting is at the heart of live performance, from theatres and concert venues to stadiums, television studios and film sets.

It is an exacting craft that calls for patience, absolute concentration and complete mastery of movement, often for many hours in demanding conditions. Falconer, the remote followspot control system from Ayrton, was born from a single ambition: to reinvent that art and free the operator from its constraints. Combining a broadcast-style fluid head with a camera-based workflow, Falconer gives operators direct, instantaneous control of moving lights from a dedicated base station, while retaining the natural, responsive feel of a traditional followspot. The two ergonomic handles fit comfortably in the hands for precise, fluid movement in every direction, and a large 18.5-inch Full HD touchscreen reproduces every detail of the stage with exceptional clarity. There is no longer any need to operate from the fixture position. The view comes either from a camera built into a compatible Ayrton fixture, such as EagleStrike, rigged wherever the design demands, or from the separate Ayrton Horus camera, placed wherever it gives the clearest view of the stage.

One spotlight for an entire rig. Falconer gives you the freedom to scale. Patch an unlimited number of fixtures and choose which ones follow the action.

We recommend up to 36 active fixtures at a time, but Falconer sets no fixed limit. Its intuitive 3D calibration establishes the position of each fixture in space using just four reference points, so multiple fixtures can track the same performer in perfect synchronisation, leaving the operator free to choreograph breathtaking movements across the whole rig. Falconer works as a standalone solution or alongside a lighting console, and customisable buttons and faders keep every essential control within easy reach without taking your hands off the handles. An infrared mode keeps performers clearly in view even in extremely low-light conditions, and the quality of construction and carefully selected materials ensure perfect stability, so every movement remains smooth and controlled. From intimate theatres and concert halls to the largest stadium tours and broadcast productions, Falconer brings a flexible, high-performance approach to followspotting. Wherever the show takes place, Falconer keeps the operator one step ahead of the action.
