What you’ll do
Shape the bigger picture
- Sit with the other Product Managers to decide which technologies Ayrton bets on – sources, optics, colour, control, platforms – and where the range goes over the next five years.
- Make sure your vertical plays its part in the family, so our products feel like Ayrton wherever they’re used.
Own your vertical
- Decide what we build for your segment and why. Write the brief, make the case, and kill the ideas that don’t earn their place.
- Keep a living multi-year roadmap the business can plan against.
- Get the price right: what the market will bear, what it costs us to make, and how many each region expects to sell.
- Stay with a product from first sketch to the day it’s replaced – and step in quickly when one isn’t selling.
Live in the market
- Be where the work is: on shows, in studios, at rental houses and with the designers and programmers who use our kit.
- Know the competition inside out, and turn that into sharp requirements engineering can build to.
- See where the market’s heading before it gets there.
Build it with R&D
- Work side by side with engineers and designers, making the calls on performance, cost and timing.
- Get hands-on with prototypes, review test results and measurements, and push back when something isn’t good enough.
- Sign off new products for quality before they ship.
- Research new technologies and suppliers, and visit them to see what they can really do.
Launch it and back it up
- Get products market-ready: specs, catalogue copy, manuals and technical data.
- Train our sales teams, distributors and customers until they know the product as well as you do.
- Join sales on customer visits and demos, and step in with technical support when a deal needs it.
- Own the product side of trade fairs – what’s shown, how it’s shown, and that it works on the day.
- Feed what you hear from customers and service back into the next generation.
What you’ll bring
You must have
- At least three years in professional entertainment lighting – as a product manager, lighting designer, programmer, applications specialist or engineer. Time at a manufacturer, distributor or rental house is a plus.
- A real feel for how automated lighting gets used in your vertical, whether that’s live, theatre, TV or film.
- Products you’ve helped define and bring to market, with briefs, specs and business cases you can talk us through.
- Enough technical depth to argue optics, LED sources, colour and control with engineers.
- The ability to sit at a desk and busk a demo that sells the fixture.
- Excellent English.
- Self-starter, organised, and comfortable juggling priorities when plans move.
- The confidence to make a call, defend it, and change your mind when the data says so.
Bonus points for
- A degree in electrical, mechanical or optical engineering, or something close.
- Experience with CAD, optical simulation or photometric tools.
- French, or another European or Asian language.
- Experience working with a manufacturer in China.
- An existing network of lighting designers and rental companies.
Why Ayrton
- Real ownership. Your vertical, your roadmap, your name on the products.
- A blank sheet. You’ll help shape how the department works, not inherit someone else’s process.
- Serious backing. Real engineering and manufacturing depth behind every idea.
- People who care. A team that’s passionate about light and isn’t interested in making the same fixture as everyone else.
