Set in the heart of the vibrant capital of Indonesia, The Ballroom at Djakarta Theater is one of the latest venues to make a permanent installation of Ayrton fixtures, having been supplied with a consignment of Ayrton Huracán LT, Zonda 9 FX, and Cobra fixtures by IMS Indonesia.

IMS is Ayrton’s exclusive distributor for Indonesia.

The Ballroom at Djakarta Theater is a 35m long, 27m wide multifunctional space that accommodates up to 1000 people and hosts a wide range of events from corporate and government functions to private celebrations.

“Djakarta Theater prides itself as a one-stop entertainment destination that consistently uses the latest sound systems, lighting, and multimedia equipment,” says Andrea Kurniawan, CEO of Djakarta Theater. “What sets us apart is that we offer the complete package as a fixed installation. Everything is here so our clients can simply have it all – and we take full responsibility for delivering the best, from equipment to operators.”

With this in mind, IMS Indonesia was confident in proposing Ayrton for the new installation, specifying 24 units of Huracán LT, 12 units of Zonda 9 FX, and 32 units of Cobra, as requested by the venue owner, Benny Suherman, and the lighting designer, Dimas Wicaksono. The team discovered Ayrton at an exhibition in Guangzhou and had the opportunity to compare them to other brands during a live demonstration from IMS. “We liked the characteristics of Ayrton and found them to be the best in trials,” states Benny Suherman.

“Ayrton is also more innovative than other brands in my opinion,” agrees Wicaksono.

Wicaksono loves the variety that having a rig full of spot, wash and beam fixtures gives him, so the mixture of Huracán LT, Zonda 9 FX, and Cobra is the perfect fit for him. 20 Huracán LTs are installed in the rig and 4 more units on the stage. 12 Zonda 9 FX are also hung in the overhead rigging along with 8 Cobra, plus another 8 Cobra on the stage, with 4 on each side.

“I chose Huracán LT because I can use it as a basic key light,” Wicaksono says. “Some LDs use Fresnels and a follow spot for basic key lighting, but I like to go with Huracán LT as it is flicker-free so it doesn’t ‘hum’ on camera! I really like its framing feature too with so many pattern options, a unique prism, and a water-like animation effect – it’s extremely versatile.

“When I saw the Cobra, it was the first time I had seen a fixture using laser technology and I was very impressed. Even when the laser intensity is reduced, it’s still clearly visible—and with a hazer, the beam looks even stronger. Cobra’s powerful 0.6° beam sets it apart from other beam fixtures, and being IP65-rated makes it safe and reliable outdoors, with very minimal maintenance required.

As for the Zonda 9 FX, I chose it because of its LiquidEffect™, something I haven’t seen in other multi-cell fixtures. It allows amazing pixel-by-pixel control and unique eye effects, especially when used for macro effects.  I love how the liquid effect can be combined and played with—it lets me create something truly different for ballroom events, while also adding a prestigious touch using Ayrton fixtures. From the colour characteristics to the stage wash area, the gradation, and the colour mixing, the combination of these three fixtures works beautifully.”

The team at Djakarta Theater was very happy with the service it received from IMS Indonesia: “From my perspective, IMS, as Ayrton’s distributor, has been very supportive. We received education on the products we requested, the deliveries were always on time, and their product knowledge is excellent, including the training classes they provide,” concludes Andrea Kurniawan.
